The Jewels Of Lake Trasimeno

We are taking you on a fascinating journey to discover the area surrounding Lake Trasimeno in the province of Perugia.

Lake Trasimeno is one of the most incredible natural wonders in Umbria: the surrounding countryside and the hills create breathtaking landscapes you will never forget. Charming villages overlook the lake, they are places full of history, where you can feel that Medieval atmosphere that still characterizes many landscapes in the region.

We are meeting in Castiglione del Lago, a small town that dates back to Etruscan and Roman times, where you can still see the perfectly preserved medieval walls. It is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Italy.

We are visiting the Palace, decorated with wonderful frescoes, and the medieval fortress. Next we are going to Passignano sul Trasimeno, also known as “the pearl of Lake Trasimeno” for its unbelievable beauty.

Here we are going to take the ferry to the island Isola Maggiore, which still looks like a typical fishing village built in the 15th century. Walking along its paths you will discover small churces, the Castle and Roman remains.

Saint Francis felt a connection with this small island, where he spent the period of Lent in 1211.

Visit to the museums and lunch at your leisure in one of the restaurants located on the banks of the lake.

Return trip by ferry at 4.30 p.m. experiencing a brief yet suggestive journey along the river.

Arrive in Passignano sul Trasimeno and walk through the charming town.
