Rome and its sea: a visit to Ostia Antica
The wonderful archaeological site of Ostia Antica awaits you!
Discover the former harbour city of Ancient Rome on a 4-hour coach tour to the ruins of Ostia Antica, and learn what everyday life must have been like in a commercial and military seaport of the Ancient Rome, away from the monuments of central Rome.
You will explore the ruins of the once flourishing trade centre and the start of the Decumanus Maximus, the main thoroughfare that crosses the city from northeast to southwest. Your guide will point out the principal public buildings: Baths of Neptune, the black and white mosaics of Neptune and Amphitrite, the theatre and the Forum, that formed the centre of the city, and the Temple of Rome and Augustus.
Near the square of the Forum, you can admire the House of Diana and the Museo Ostiense, where displays of ancient sculptures and mosaics can be found among the ruins.
