Escape in abruzzo: romantic dinners, quality wine, medieval abbey
Enogastronomic Cultural itinerary
After having admired the extraordinary naturalistic panorama we arrive at Vasto, an ancient Roman city on the Costa dei Trabocchi.
The Costa dei Trabocchi is so named for the presence of numerous Trabocchi, ancient and picturesque wooden fishing machines on stilts, scattered along the coast.
After the welcome lunch we will visit Vasto, retracing the tracks of the ancient Roman age Histonium, the mysterious medieval lanes and the luxurious Renaissance buildings.
Then we will go to the wonderful and incomparable 13th century Benedictine Abbey of San Giovanni in Venere, Its location on a small olive-grove hill 100m from the coast and overlooking the Adriatic makes its situation just as appealing as the building itself. Is said to have been constructed on the site of a Roman temple dedicated to Venus.
and to conclude our day we will have dinner on a Trabocco.
On the second day we will visit the Abbey of San Clemente, one of Abruzzo’s jewels. It is renovated after the earthquake and it is extremely simple and unfussy, with an atmosphere of great tranquillity.
we will have the privilege of being welcomed and tasting the wines of one of the most important and renowned wineries in the Abruzzo region.
We will have lunch in a selected restaurant where the passion for good food is combined with the typical products of Abruzzo.
